Welcome to the letter I – today we are going to talk about the Inheritance Cycle, the four books by Christopher Paolini: Eragon, Eldest, Brisingr, Inheritance.

Discover Your destiny. Become a Legend.
Fifteen-year-old Eragon believes that he is merely a poor farm boy- until his destiny as a Dragon Rider is revealed. Gifted with only an ancient sword, a loyal dragon, and sage advice from an old storyteller, Eragon is soon swept into a dangerous tapestry of magic, glory, and power. Now his choices could save – or destroy- the Empire..

I love these books. Dragon Riders are like my favourite archtype for dragon because the dragons are portrayed in the best light, constant companions to their rider, intelligent, fierce, fire breathing, and so good. I feel that I might have said all this back when talking about the dragons of Pern back at the letter A, but this is how much I like dragons.

The setting is amazing, with the three races, Humans, Dwarves and Elves, learning to overcome predujices and working together to defeat the evil lord that controls the land, and rescue the last dragon eggs from him, since Eragon and his dragon are the last human/dragon riders.

There are a lot of other plots in there, to do with the people around him, as well as Eragon himself, and it’s great to have the other stories in there, as you really get a feel for all of the characters in the story, and all of thier indivdual goals, hopes, and what they achieve and feel.

Also there is magic, and a talking cat, which make things very awesome indeed. Talking cats are great.

The first book got made into a movie. I haven’t seen it, because I hear lukewarm reviews about it, and the books are really great so I didn’t need the movie to make me enjoy them more.

So give them a read, because they are really rich books to get your teeth into.
